CASE STUDY 1: DAVID AKOTO

David was recommended to the NGO by his headmistress at Simms Secondary/Commercial College.

David Akoto is a brilliant student. He is interested in education and has always wanted to pursue further education. However, David comes from a very poor family background and his family could not support him to further his education through senior high school let alone university. Because of this reason, our NGO saw the need to assist him to further his education up to the university level so as to make him independent in life. At the university level, David is now pursuing a BSc in Land Economy at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Without the help of Supporting Education in Ghana, it is unlikely that David could have even completed senior secondary school.

CASE STUDY 2: HAWA FUSEINI

Hawa Fuseini is a brilliant but needy student. Her father is a retired security worker in the Kwabre District. Now a pensioner, he could not support her to pursue her education. An officer at the Ghana Education Service office learned of her plight and asked if we could come to her assistance. Currently, she is at senior high school studying General Arts programmes. She hopes to become a lawyer in future.

CASE STUDY 3: AMAOKO MARFO SAMUEL

Amaoko Marfo Samuel is a twenty-two year old student from a poor family. He is from a single parent family and so found it difficult to pursue further education from the basic level. His plight came to the attention of the NGO through the headmistress of the school he attended. Supporting Education in Ghana came to his aid by supporting him through his high school education. Currently, Samuel has just completed high school education with excellent grades but because of financial constraints, he has not been able to access tertiary education. He would need substantial assistance to pursue further education at the university, which Supporting Education in Ghana regrettably cannot currently afford.

CASE STUDY 4: ANNOR ADOMA BEATRICE

Annor Adoma Beatrice is a twenty-one year old student from a poor family. Her parents are peasant farmers with a low income and are unable to cater for her education. Her class tutor got to know her situation and made an application to the NGO which was able to provide vital assistance by paying her school fees at the senior high school level. Currently she is in her final year at senior high school and will need further support to enable her to complete high school education and continue to tertiary education.
